DADS released three information letters:
HCS and ICF/MR:
DADS notified these providers that effective June 20, 2011, it won’t require program providers to submit a packet of documentation to accompany a request to renew a previously authorized Level of Need increase. (Letter)
Medicaid Hospice providers:
Effective July 1, 2011, DADS will begin requiring physicians who certify dual eligible and Medicaid only hospice patients as being terminally ill to include a brief narrative of the clinical findings that support a life expectancy of six months or less, with the initial certification only. (Letter)
Adult Foster Care, AL/RC, CBA, CDSA, DAHS, Emergency Response Services, HDM, PHC, and Transition Assistance Services:
HHSC is expanding the STAR+PLUS program in the existing service areas and creating a new service area, effective September 1, 2011. Current service areas: Harris, Harris Expansion, Bexar, Nueces, and Travis.
Expansion areas: Harris service area: Austin, Matagorda and Wharton counties; Bexar service area: Bandera County; Nueces service area: Brooks, Goliad, Karnes, Kenedy and Live Oak counties; and Travis service area: Fayette County.
New Jefferson service area: Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Tyler, and Walker. (Letter)
