The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced its intent to submit to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services a request to amend the State of Texas Access Reform + PLUS (STAR+PLUS) program, to integrate delivery of acute and long-term care services through a managed care system.
HHSC also intends to submit an amendment to the Texas State Plan for Medical Assistance, under Title XIX of the Social Security Act, which would modify the reimbursement methodology in the Texas Medicaid State Plan for in-home total parenteral hyperalimentation services, effective April 1, 2009. Proposed Rules
The Texas Medical Board proposes to amend Chapter 166, Physician Registration, §166.2, concerning Continuing Medical Education, which would allow members of the Board’s Expert Physician Panel to obtain an hour of Continuing Medical Education in ethics for completion of training as offered by the Board and up to 6 hours of formal Continuing Medical Education for time actually spent in reviewing standard of care cases and providing a report to the Board.
The Board also proposes to amend Chapter 183, Acupuncture, §183.2, Definitions, §183.4, Licensure, §183.10, Patient Records and §183.20, Continuing Acupuncture Education, to recognize acupuncture schools in the United States or Canada that have been approved by an accrediting body recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and delete obsolete references to examinations taken prior to January 1, 2007, and clarify any possible confusion on the matter.
